Here’s something to dance about: Steven Spielberg’s highly-anticipated remake of ‘West Side Story’ arrives in theaters on Dec. 10. Like the musical by playwright Arthur Laurents and the 1961 film adaption directed by Jerome Robbins and Robert Wise, the 2021 film is a modern-day retelling of William Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo & Juliet’ and follows two street gangs, the Jets and the Sharks, in New York as they battle it out for control of the city. The rivalry is complicated when Tony, a member of the Jets, falls in love with Maria, whose brother is a Shark. For the remake, Rachel Zegler and Ansel Elgort take the reign as star-crossed lovers Maria and Tony. On Dec. 7, the stars and other celebrities descended at the Los Angeles premiere, including Steven and his wife Kate Capshaw, pictured here, for a screening.
