‘The Woman King’ is a historical epic film about the Dahomey Amazons, a group of female West African warriors. Viola Davis plays General Nanisca, who leads the new recruits to protect their kingdom against dangerous enemies. Thuso Mbedu plays new recruit Nawi, while John Boyega plays King Ghezo. Lashana Lynch, Sheila Atim, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Adrienne Warren, Jayme Lawson, and more. Gina Prince-Bythewood directed the film, which is set in the 1820s.
