The show was a modern take on ‘Lord of the Flies’ and followed a group of teenagers who are mysteriously transported to a facsimile of their wealthy New England town, left without any trace of their parents. They struggled over the course of the season to figure out what happened to them and return home. As the show progressed, alliances were formed and enemies made themselves known. The season ended with Campbell, Harry, Lexie, and the Guard staging a coup that dethroned Allie as mayor. Allie and Will were arrested and taken away. ‘The Society’ starred as Kathryn Newton as Allie, Gideon Adlon as Becca, Sean Berdy as Sam, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Helena, Jacques Colimon as Will, Olivia DeJonge as Elle, Alex Fitzalan as Harry, Kristine Froseth as Kelly, Alexander MacNicoll as Luke, and Toby Wallace as Campbell. ‘The Society’ had been renewed for season 2, but Netflix reversed the renewal due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
