Jerry Seinfeld was already a rising star in the comedy world before Seinfeld premiered in 1989, but the beloved sitcom made him an A-list celebrity. Created alongside fellow comedy great Larry David, the series was an instant hit and made the main cast (consisting of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander, and Michael Richards) into household names. Widely described as a “show about nothing,” the series has continued to be endlessly quotable and continues to draw young fans for its quick comedic wit and memorable situations.
For the show’s four final seasons, it always finished in the top two highest-viewed series for the year. When the show’s finale premiered in 1998, over 76 million people tuned in, and the show finished at number one. Throughout its run, the show won 10 Emmys and three Golden Globes.
