Ruth Bader Ginsburg Memorial — Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was honored with a touching memorial on September 23, 2020 at the Supreme Court itself, the place where she preceded over nearly 500 court cases throughout her 27 years on the bench. Justice Ginsburg’s American flag draped casket arrived at the Supreme Court building with a police escort. As Justice Ginsburg’s casket was carried up the steps of the building by Supreme Court police officers, Supreme Court clerks and former law clerks who worked with Ginsburg stood in silence, wearing black protective face masks.

Inside the Supreme Court, Justice Ginsburg’s casket was placed on the Lincoln catafalque, a platform constructed in 1865 to support the body of President Abraham Lincoln when he laid in state at the US Capitol. It’s an American tradition for fallen government leaders. She was honored with words from a rabbi, as well as a eulogy by Chief Justice John G. Roberts, who remembered her fondly.
