Known for his sexy swagger, the star was born into showbusiness as the son of The Jeffersons actress Roxie Roker and Sy Kravitz, an NBC television news producer. He began his professional music career in 1989, when he signed to Virgin Records and released his debut album that year, Let Love Rule. He had a huge hit with his third album, Are You Gonna Go My Way, released in 1994. He won the first of four Grammys for Best Male Vocal Rock Performance.

In addition to his music career, Lenny has appeared in a number of movies, including playing the character Cinna in the blockbuster trilogy ‘The Hunger Games’. His personal life is also notable. He was wed to actress Lisa Bonet from 1987 to 1993 and the pair share daughter Zoe Kravitz.
