Issa Rae — Issa Rae, born Jo-Issa Rae Diop on January 12, 1985, is an American actress, writer, director, producer and web series creator. Issa rose to fame following her online series ‘The Misadventures of an Awkward Black Girl.’ From there, Issa was approached by HBO to turn her successful online series into a scripted show. ‘Insecure’ was the result of those negotiations, and Issa was very involved in the series conception. Along with acting, Issa wrote a number of the episodes and took on producing roles as well. She earned a number of Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her work and quickly became a sought after talent. Issa has also starred in the 2019 film ‘Little,’ 2018’s ‘The Hate U Give,’ and has an onslaught of projects lined up for the future. Clearly, Issa’s star is rising faster every single day and it doesn’t appear that the multi hyphenate talent is slowing down any time soon.
