There is basically no sitcom as iconic as Friends. The NBC hit first premiered on Sept. 22, 1994, and ran for 10 seasons until the finale on May 6, 2004.

The beloved sitcom — starring Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, and Matt LeBlanc — kept audiences laughing for 236 episodes across 10 seasons. In the 2020s, Friends found a whole new generation of fans after becoming available on streaming, cementing its place as one of the most popular TV shows of all time.

Since the series wrapped in 2004, the cast has taken on a variety of projects. Some have remained TV fixtures, while others have branched out into film, Broadway, producing, and more. In 2021, the six stars reunited for an HBO Max special — a nostalgic celebration that would sadly mark the final time they were all together before Perry’s tragic death on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54.

Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston, who played Rachel Green, still looks just as incredible as she did on Friends. After the show ended, Jen dabbled in movies with flicks like We’re The Millers and Horrible Bosses. She returned to TV in 2019 with the Apple TV+ series The Morning Show.

Courteney Cox

Courteney Cox, who played Monica Geller, starred in the TV series Cougar Town after Friends. She also reprised her role as Gale Weathers in Scream 4 and starred in Zoom and Bedtime Stories.

David Schwimmer

David Schwimmer was beyond hilarious as Ross Geller. After the series wrapped, he continued acting in movies and shows such as The Pallbearer, Band of Brothers, and the Madagascar franchise. He earned critical acclaim for his role as Robert Kardashian in American Crime Story: The People v OJ Simpson.

Matthew Perry

Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing, had roles on TV series like Go On and The Odd Couple after Friends. He also starred as Ted Kennedy in the mini-series The Kennedys After Camelot. In 2022 he released a tell-all memoir titled Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir. Sadly, Matthew was found dead at his Los Angeles home on October 28, 2023.

Lisa Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay, tickled viewers’ funnybones once again with her role as Valerie Cherish on the TV series The Comeback. Lisa also starred in movies like Easy A and Booksmart.

Matt LeBlanc

Matt LeBlanc played actor Joey Tribbiani on the show. He was the only character to get his own spinoff Joey which aired from 2004 to 2006. He went back to TV with the CBS sitcom Man with a Plan, which ran from 2016 to 2020.
