David Alan Grier (born June 30, 1956 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American actor and comedian. As a film actor, Grier has had roles in Stuart Little, The Woodsman and Jumanji. He has also starred on the shows In Living Color, The Carmichael Show and Comedy Bang! Bang!. He competed on season 8 of Dancing With the Stars but was eliminated after 5 weeks. Grier will play the role of the Lion in NBC’s holiday production of The Wiz Live!

Grier has been married twice. He first married Maritza Rivera, but they split in 1995. He then married art curator Christine Y. Kim in 2007. They have a daughter, Luisa Danbi Grier-Kim. Grier and Kim filed for divorce in 2009. Grier is a fan of motorcycles, an avid cook and holds a black belt in taekwondo.
